There are various types of range hoods, which can mainly be divided into the following categories.
1.Overhead range hood
Overhead range hoods are generally called \"T-type machines\", with a structure resembling an upside-down \"T\". Installed directly above the stove, they suck up rising oil fumes through a direct suction method. Their features include a large smoke-capturing area, easy integration into kitchen cabinets, and convenient cleaning. They are suitable for families that frequently use stir-frying methods or prefer a simple kitchen style.
The drawback is that the installation height is relatively high, which may cause a collision with the head when bending over to look at the stove. Secondly, as the smoke rises, it may pass by the face, potentially causing a stuffy or irritating sensation.
2.Side-suction range hood
The side-suction range hood is installed behind and to the side of the stove. Its intake is usually located at the bottom, allowing it to quickly exhaust smoke and oil fumes. As a result, smoke and oil fumes generally do not splash onto the user's face, making it suitable for families that generate a large amount of smoke and oil fumes during cooking.
However, the drawbacks are also quite obvious. Since the air inlet is very close to the stove, the wind force generated during the exhaust process will affect the stove's flame, leading to increased gas consumption and reduced cooking efficiency.
3.Top-side dual-draft range hood
The top-side dual-draw range hood looks like the Chinese character '7', hence it is also called the '7-character machine'. The 7-character machine combines the structures of top-draw and side-draw range hoods, forming a three-dimensional smoke-capturing area that can exhaust smoke from both below and above, effectively preventing oil smoke from escaping.
Due to its combination of under-cabinet and overhead extraction structures, it is usually more expensive, generally higher in price than both overhead and under-cabinet range hoods. Additionally, its installation requires certain requirements for the layout of the kitchen cabinets. It is more suitable for consumers with sufficient budget.
There are also other types of range hoods. For example, integrated stoves combine the functions of a range hood, cooktop, and oven into one unit. There are also dual-head range hoods suitable for commercial kitchens, among others.
Users can choose a more suitable model for their home kitchen based on their budget, kitchen space, and personal cooking methods.
